I feel an urge

to fix your heart

because it looks

a lot like mine

A grain of salt

is still a seed

to a child

My eyes

swallowed the sea

before I could get

my lips to say

I’m fine

whisper

sweet nothings

to yourself

and watch your mind

fall in love

with you

We were a beautiful museum

filled with history and emotion

until the true meaning

behind our greatest painting

suddenly turned our museum

into a burial

Take me to the moon

there are too many

voices here

I’m sorry

the world

is telling you

to grow up

when you’re just beginning

to live your childhood

I read your lips

just like you asked

but they spewed out lava

and it burned me

to my core

There will come a time when you fall in love with someone and realize you don’t just want to show them the parts of you that you think they will like. You will want to show them the parts you only show to yourself. You will fall in love with someone and want them to see your flaws because you need to know if they will love them. Because one night they see who you really are, and you hope they will still love you for it. Still love you for the other half you’ve kept tucked away for this day. For the day when you can’t pretend anymore, I hope whoever makes you feel this way deserves it. For the day you show your love by showing who you are underneath the layers, I hope they see what makes you the good kind of different.

Show me your sunken ships

we can swim there together

you don’t need to worry about not making it back

because I’ll be there to remind you it’s only the past

and you’ve spent years building a lighthouse

to guide you back
